- Stairs, ladders & landings: rise/going, handrails both sides (where applicable), mid-rails, landings & guardrails.
- Guarding & pallet gates: height, mid-rail/mesh compliance, safe loading/unloading operation.
- Load ratings: signage present, intended use vs design capacity (verification to documentation where available).
- Fire & egress: sprinkler head clearance (where installed), exits/aisles, emergency lighting/visibility.
- Housekeeping: access ways, lighting, slip/trip controls, edge marking, operator information.
- Rack-supported mezzanines: racking condition and configuration (where applicable) and load signage.

How often should mezzanines be inspected?
Best practice is a competent independent inspection annually, plus monthly in-house checks, and immediately after impact, modification or change of use. Frequency can vary based on risk, load and traffic.
